My Homemade Skid Steer Machines
I built this 6 wheel drive skid steer cart to move dirt and materials around my yard (1/2 acre) which is mostly steep hillside, therefore the cart was designed with low speed low torque in mind with lots of wheel surface area for grip. At 168 rpm, two wheel motors will need 10.3 X 2 X 168 / 231 = 15 gpm at 8 mph. That's direct drive for the wheel motors. A 15 gpm flow rate is way too fast for a 2.5" cylinder, like 12" per second to extend fast. If i descend very slowly the cart becomes jerky as if i can feel each revolution of the motor as they're being turned by the load (the wheels and weight of the cart) but all of a sudden it picks up speed even if i let go of the control valves. Post the brand and spec's for your motors. You need to have an idea of the torque requirements of your drive system.
