After much thought and planning I"ve finally put my idea into motion here in the . The mini excavator quick-change hitch increases its versatility and productivity .

Trailer with 2-7k axles, I'll try to stay at 14,000 or less. Tandem dual trailer 2-10k axles, 20,000 payload. Pulling with 1 ton pickups dually or srw. Have made it to 40k gross on tandem dual trailer, tare is 15,xxx, oops a little overloaded. Tractors and equipment you can move your weight around so it works better, hay not quite as easy.

We have a backhoe that would probably lift one side at a time to put planks under the tracks but not the whole thing. I am of the opinion that a mini-excavator is superior to any backhoe in every comparison except traversing distances greater than 50 yards. There are many things a mini can do that a backhoe could not even begin to do. Also, a mini, single-axle dump truck, and trailer will not cost a whole lot more than a backhoe by itself. Same as a Bobcat 442. It’s an 8 ton machine, with 2 speed and a 2 way blade. Really love it, much better IMO than a backhoe. Backhoes move easier down the road, but don’t dig as fast. I move mine on a deck over trailer, as my Bobcat trailer is too narrow between the wheel wells.

For a trailer 24' or longer gooseneck is the way to go. We have a 25+5 gooseneck with two 10,000lb axles and we just bought a used 16+2' 12,000lb skid steer trailer for hauling our skid steer on. In my opinion that gives us the best of both worlds, a big trailer for big stuff and a little trailer for smaller stuff.
