I had problems with my 722's ignition and discovered the distributor shaft was worn which made the points gap go haywire when the engine warmed up. The new distributor solved that with the added bonus of EI ignition. Bought a brand new Pertronix electronic ignition distributor. I mean the whole distributor and not just an EI module for the existing distributor. All I can say is that by doing this all of my problems were solved. We would also like to eliminate points and condenser. PETRONIX part #1244-A? Is this an automotive engine? Seems to me that the electronic ignition would much improve cold starts and perhaps overall engine performance.This electronic (breakerless) distributor is designed for use in Formula Ford 1600 ("Kent/Cortina") engines. It is legal for SCCA Formula Ford 1600 per FCS 9.1.1.B.12.r. All electronics are contained in the distributor housing (no black box required).
