Standing just over 4’ tall and a little over 7’ wide, the Round-Up Bale Handler is designed for . Skid steers are very nimble and strong but I believe a crawler loader would save . The previous owner crossed the creek and had it lined with rock which is VERY solid, but the banks are not for my tractor size. The utility companies came through and cut a path and crossed with a tracked skid steer with no issues.

No existing creek crossing/bridge on the property. The creek is only about 6 ft wide and 6-8" deep mostly, but the channel that has been eroded out over time is ~6ft deep and ~25ft across from grade on each side. I would stay out any water that is higher than the bottom of the engine compartment. Flood water always contains sand and will destroy rotary shaft seals(axle, crankshaft, water pump and timing cover) fast. I'm helping my brother-in law repair eroded ground behind nine log cabins overlooking a creek, the lowest cabin is about is about 20' up from the creek but. My job site is absolutely flooded and there some deep spots in the roads I gotta get through. How deep can I take this thing? Worst I’ve found so far is about the top of my tracks.

A creek that wide would need a couple of pipes to let peak flow through and not wash out either side of the pipe. A bridge will be expensive and both it and a culvert will need maintenance. A ford you can just chuck some more rocks in as you collect them.

Eric, I nevered turned a CTL on a slope that steep. The way I would tackle a job like this is grade downhill leaving the spoils in a row about 20 feet away from the wall at the bottom. I would then back down below the spoils (leave a slot to get through the first time) and pick up the spoils and transport to the top. The loader on the backhoe works ok and holds a little more than the skid steer but even with 4WD it has traction issues trying to dig into the virgin ground and the skid steer works better. Keep in mind this is a 13,000 lb tracked skid steer. I'm thinking the best options are driving up the slope from the bottom and picking at the top of the steep part with the FEL and grading from the top down, or starting at the top and cutting into it with the blade and dragging it down the hill. Skid steer tires roll over debris. Tracks roll through it, with bits and pieces getting wedged inside the undercarriage and between components. Ground material is a threat to all track loader undercarriages. De Hoyos says a critical “post-op” procedure to protect tracks and components is simply to clean them thoroughly at the end of each .
